Mission
Pokémania Cable Club is a dedicated group for Tennessee fans of the original Pokemon Game Boy games (Red/Blue/Yellow) to meet up to battle, trade, and discuss.The ultimate vision for the group is to recapture the joy of the original "Pokémania" craze that swept the world in the late 90s and early 00s. In those days, the internet was not yet widespread, so Pokémon was able to maintain a certain mystique. No one knew exactly how the game worked, or how to evolve every Pokémon, or even where to find them all. TV, magazines, word of mouth, and good ol' personal experimentation were the only ways to uncover the mysteries of the Pokémon world.The experience of living through Pokémania obviously can never be completely replicated. However, what we can do in the present day is make a social event out of enjoying the games that started it all! Pokémon was meant to be played with friends!So, which version will you choose?
CLUB RULES
In order for club events to run safely and smoothly, members must agree to abide by certain rules.1. Stay on topic. This is a dedicated group for Tennessee trainers to battle and trade Pokemon on the old-school Game Boy games. It is NOT a Buy/Sell group, an advertisement/promo group, or a TCG group. Please stay on topic!2. Game Boy ONLY! This group is primarily dedicated to Pokemon RBY and GSC. In addition to original Game Boy hardware, the Virtual Console versions of RBY and GSC on 3DS are also allowed! However, this is NOT a group for battling/trading on native DS, 3DS, or Switch games. Game Boy Advance games (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald and FireRed/LeafGreen) are allowed at certain events.3. Embrace the spirit of classic Pokemon! The Pokemon you bring to events should be obtained by your own efforts and trained using in-game methods. They should be of a legal level (1-100) and know only moves obtainable legally in RBY and/or GSC.4. Legit hardware is recommended. It is highly recommended to use only legitimate game cartridges for battles and trades. Please disclose if you are using repro (bootleg) cartridges before linking up.6. No glitch Pokemon. Do NOT trade or battle with Missingno or other glitch Pokemon unless the other player agrees beforehand.7. Keep track of your belongings. You are responsible for your personal belongings at all times! Pokemania Cable Club admins are not responsible for lost or stolen items!8. Play at your own risk! Pokemania Cable Club admins are not responsible for any loss or corruption of game data.9. Respect all club members and hosts. Event attendees must show respect and courtesy to all club members, hosts, and their property at all times. This includes practicing good hygiene before and during events.10. CHILDREN NOT TO BE LEFT UNATTENDED. Parents/guardians are responsible for the safety and behavior of their children and MUST remain present at all times. Neither Pokemania Cable Club nor the event host venues are responsible for the supervision of children.

7/26/2026: Retro Pokemon Picnic Success!After a great Little Cup tournament in May, Pokemania Cable Club geared up for its biggest event yet: the Retro Pokemon Picnic at Memorial Park in Hendersonville, TN! The picnic took place on July 25, 2026. At the picnic, trainers competed in two main events: the Bug-Catching Contest Treasure Hunt and the Bug Bash GBA Battle Tournament!Read all about it on our Patreon!7/21/2026: Retro Pokemon Picnic This Weekend!After the success of the Little Cup on May 16, Pokemania Cable Club is gearing up for the Retro Pokemon Picnic this Saturday, July 25!There will be two main events at the picnic: the Bug-Catching Contest Treasure Hunt and the Bug Bash GBA Battle Tournament.In the Bug-Catching Contest Treasure Hunt, trainers will hunt for hidden Pokeballs in the park. Each ball contains Pokemon sweets, handmade goodies, and a Bug Pokemon sticker! Who will find the strongest Bug Pokemon? The trainer with the strongest Bug will receive a $25 Pokemon Center gift card and a Scyther plush!In the Bug Bash GBA Battle Tournament, trainers with Pokemon RSE/FRLG will compete in 4v4 Double Battles! Only Level 50 Bug, Grass, and Poison types are allowed. The winner will receive a Scizor plush!To enter, club members must bring food to share or make a donation to the club.
